The top 5 motivational movies that will inspire you to succeed

In order to be successful in life, it’s important to surround yourself with people who will lift you up instead of holding you down. And what better way to motivate yourself than by watching movies that challenge your perception of reality? These five motivational movies will help you understand the meaning of success and inspire you to create your own path toward greatness.

1) Rocky

Rocky is a classic. The movie follows Rocky Balboa, an amateur boxer who achieves his dream of fighting for an international title. The movie's hero is its audience: There are no grand special effects, no glamorous actors and actresses. Rocky shows just how much a person can accomplish if they set their mind to it, and inspires viewers to pursue their own dreams. And when those dreams don't turn out as planned, it motivates them to get back up again and try harder. Ultimately, Rocky has become one of Hollywood's most iconic films for a reason: It makes people believe in themselves. In our fast-paced world where things seem more daunting than ever before, many could use a little bit of hope from an old black-and-white film about boxing in Philadelphia.

2) Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory

The movie Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory is one of my all-time favorites. The story follows a young boy who wins a tour of a magical chocolate factory with four other children as he competes against another who can't resist doing anything to win. The movie is inspirational because it teaches us that good things come to those who work hard and being kind pays off more than being nasty ever will. I've never seen another film bring out so much awe and inspiration in me, and I'm sure many other people would agree! This classic must be placed on your watch list if you haven't already!

3) What Dreams May Come

This film is based on a story by Richard Matheson. It stars Robin Williams as Chris Nielsen, who dies in a car accident but returns as a ghost and finds himself in heaven with his wife (Annabella Sciorra). There are heavy themes of love and loss, but also dreamlike sequences throughout. Perhaps not for everyone, but those who give it a chance tend to really appreciate it.

4) Groundhog Day

Groundhog Day is a comedy with an inspiring message. When weatherman Phil Connors is sent to Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania to cover groundhog day, he finds himself stuck in a time loop where he ends up living out an entire week over and over again until he can finally improve his life and find true happiness. The movie has everything from slapstick humor, romance, and most importantly—an inspirational message about how change your own life for the better by changing yourself on a fundamental level. It’s sure to make you feel motivated! In addition to being uplifting, Groundhog Day also features great performances from Bill Murray as Phil and Andie MacDowell as Rita—and is one of Harold Ramis’ best films.

5) Field of Dreams

For all intents and purposes, Field of Dreams is a sports movie. But there’s more to it than just baseball. The film is about listening to your gut and pursuing your dreams. If you have a passion for something, embrace it; if people laugh at you for it, roll with it; and most importantly, never let anyone or anything stand in your way of making your dreams happen. This classic is so good, Hollywood even remade it in 2012 with Kevin Costner reprising his role as Ray Kinsella. (It’s also available on Netflix.)
